The mayor of Rivière-Beaudette and prefect of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Patrick Bousez enthusiastically accepted the position of honorary president of the 15E Wine show to be held on May 16 at the Vaudreuil-Dorion Arena.

“It's a great honor and I thanked the people at the Fondation du Centre Hospitalier for thinking of me for this position as spokesperson for the 15th edition,” said the elected official during a short press briefing at the SAQ Dépôt in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Relevance of a hospital

Seriously injured his wrist during a snowmobile accident a few weeks ago, Mayor Bousez experienced a mountain of strong emotions by interfering in the Quebec health system. Postponed operations, ill-scheduled appointments, imbroglios as to the dates of meetings, passage from one hospital and from one specialist to another, the prefect made great public about his misadventures on social networks during this period, which resembled that of the madhouse in a well-known episode of Astérix. “I accepted the honorary presidency before the accident, but we understand the relevance of a hospital in the region”, mentioned Patrick Bousez. “But otherwise, the Foundation is a cause that is close to our hearts and that works to help bring hospital in the region, but which also has a social mission in terms of health. One only has to think of the past year when profits were divided to help the victims of the region. It's a great social cause and it's one of the reasons that prompted me to accept it,” he said about the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Foundation.

High goals

Patrick Bousez believes it is important that people are committed to their Foundation. “Certainly we would like to exceed the goals year after year, but in May, we will set the real goals in terms of visitors and money raising,” he admitted.

In this sense, Denis Lapointe, one of the organizers of the Wine Show and well involved in the Foundation, talks about a new tool to attract sponsorships.

“We have found someone who will represent us, to be an ambassador. Nadine Bissonnette will be walking around the territory to sell sponsorships and tickets. We want to try to attract new people to our living room,” he said.

“My role will be to solicit companies and individuals who want to come to the Salon des Vins, but also to see the visibility that the event can bring them as financial partners. But since this is the first year, there is no specific objective,” revealed Nadine Bissonnette.

The 15th Vaudreuil-Soulanges Wine Show will once again be held at the Vaudreuil-Dorion Arena on the third Wednesday in May, this year on May 16. Around 27 or 28 agencies are expected to be present this year, in addition to representatives of regional gastronomy.
